Along the Oregon Coast there are many wonderful beach towns to explore. My road trip up the coast included stops in Florence, Lincoln City, Tillamook, Manzanita, and Cannon Beach. After a relaxing couple of days in Lincoln City, we headed north and our first stop was Tillamook, Oregon. In Tillamook, a great place to visit is the Blue Heron Cheese Company where you can sample several of their wines, gourmet sauces, and cheeses and also grab lunch at the Blue Heron Deli. I ordered the Riviera Veggie Sandwich and some pasta salad and it was delicious! We continued on to the adorable town of Manzanita. My good friend, Ed, had recommended Manzanita as a must see along the coast and I definitely agree. We spent the afternoon enjoying the quaint few blocks filled with shops and restaurants. There are also many beach and recreational activities in Manzanita, but we were there on a drizzly day so did not make it out to the beach.
We then continued on to Cannon Beach, a coastal town with an abundance of art and artisan galleries, specialty shops, restaurants, and beach activities and host to many art and beach festivals throughout the year. We had a very relaxed schedule on this trip, so we booked our accommodations on a daily basis as we arrived at a good stopping point each day. For our stay in Cannon Beach we chose a hotel right on the beach at Haystack Rock called the Surfsand Resort. Really enjoyed it and would definitely choose to stay there again. Although we booked the most affordable room available, I think it was probably the comfortable and luxurious hotel room I have ever stayed in. The room was immaculate, very stylishly decorated, and had fun touches such as popcorn and a dvd library.
This was such a relaxing trip filled with beautiful scenery and lovely sunsets. To finish up our Oregon Coast Loop, we drove back inland to Portland and enjoyed a yummy lunch at Mother’s Bistro before continuing south toward home.
